Oday 20' n/a
rigging for the oday 20?

Hello again everyone, my days at work have ran into the night the past few days so no further progress has been made, but tomorrow the mast goes up and the old plywood comes out and I will be ordering the teak hatch boards from d&r marine since I cant find any other hatches for her. I was wondering if anyone had a photo or something of what the 1974 oday 20's rigging (masthead I believe) looks like when its all set up and the base of the mast when its in the tabernacle since I don't really know what would be missing lol thanks to anyone who can respond, and check back in tomorrow for more picture and status updates!

Try a website called sailboatdata.com and search for the O'Day 20. The yave pictures, drawings, and specs of all kinds for a lot of boats. Also, just search the web -- Google or Bing, for O'Day 20. You will find lots of pictures, maybe some owners manuals, reviews of the boat, and boats for sale that will also have pictures of interior and exterior.

I still do the same with my O'Day 22 and am surprised to see all the different modifications, upgrades, (and some that I would call downgrades) that different owners have tried, along with some articles on repairs to various structural points which is a great indicator of what to inspect on your own boat just because it failed on another boat just like yours.

Have fun!

My O'Day 23 had similar squishiness around the front pulpit after a bad repair following Hurricane Hugo. I did as one of the other posters suggested -- remove as much old coring as possible with a bent nail, spash acetone inside and then allow to dry. Tape up the bottom holes with duck tape and then fill from the top with West System epoxy (don't cheap out with the hardware store junk, the real stuff is much better). Refill, let cure, then drill new holes and rebed. Should fix for the indefinite future. I wouldn't recommend getting into trying to recore the entire deck, this procedure will probably stiffen it up enough.
Also I noticed what looked like some stains on your fiberglass -- last week I bought some rust stain remover from West Marine ($14-ish) and it removed some nasty stains from by Boston Whaler this weekend. I was surprised by how well it worked, you might want to pick some up if other cleaners don't work. Thanks for the updates keep us posted!
