Like Tony I too just bought my first boat. I took it out last weekend and had a ball! My wife did get a little quessie when I heeled it over too far in a 15 knott wind. I should have listened to you all and reefed my main. Sure will next time!! Any other suggestions will be appreciated. I took her out in the Pacific off Ventura California and was surprised how well she rode in the ocean. Glad to hear from anyone with suggestions. Thanks, John

good luck with your new boat ! i also have a 23.5 its a great boat. my wife was also a little shaky with heeling. give her a little while to get used to it. i would furl the jib early and just use the main. and ease the main out when we started to heel too much (her opinion). she has gotten used to it now after taking it easy all summer. she actually likes it now . have fun with your boat .

Hunter 23.5 stuff

I envy you with the blue Pacific to sail. I also have a 23.5 I bought in Nov 2000 . I'm learning more about her everyday. Check out this link at my webshots. I scanned parts of my manual from Hunter into it. Good Luck Sail Well Click on the link then the Hunter folders 1 is pictures of my boat the other Hunter Instructions.

Great Boat

I also have a hunter 23.5, 96 vintage. My wife also had the "15 degee jitters" when we had our newport 17, but realy loves the stability of our hunter. We sail on the Chesapeake Bay where it can get pretty exiting sometimes. Good sailing and good luck with the Hunter Mike S/V Sail La Vie
