I bought a digital multimeter so I could make sure that my gel batteries weren't charging above 14.1 volts. After about three months, the thing dies on me. Won't read voltages, resistance, nothing. There are two screws holding it together, and a little placard that says "no user-servicable parts inside. Screw removal by qualified personnel only." So I remove the screws, and inside I find... a dead 9v battery! Another quality Home Depot product. Paul sv Escape Artist h336

While you're in there

you may as well look for the "special" fuse(s) that are hidden inside (get spares - EXACT match for exist'g). Regards, Gord

Wires & Connectors

My experience with failed multimeters is that the red and black wires frequently separate inside of their plastic connectors or probes. Just unscrew the plastic piece from the metal piece and inspect the soldered connection.
