Someone needs to make up their mind. Do they want to fly or sail? Must be nice to have that kind of $$ to do something completely crazy like that!

It is very nice looking but so are several of the female stars in show business and I can't afford them either.

And like all compromises it will do none of the three well.

I find it laudably typical that this brainchild remains stillborn on someone's computer, 'alive' only by CG and wishful thinking.

And when it's done, then what? Should we work on a bionic hybrid of an elephant with wing implants that can cook Chinese good?

gezzz...I'm usually not one to care too much about what people do with their time or money but I can't help wonder how may people you could feed (or educate, or employ) with what it cost to build that thing. :naughty:

In this case how many people will it employ to build and crew this thing?

Or in this case how many people will be employed to recycle this thing? (Unless of course it falls to Dr Robert Ballard.)

i can hear the engineer now... " but boss, we are going to have to make the feet about thirty feet wider to keep the sails from turning us over!"
Would be a fun and unique thing to work on !!

Lifestyles of the rich and famous. Meanwhile in the streets of Oman, as in our own country, children are going hungry without a place to sleep. We are a species in decline. Just another day in paradise.

That is exactly where my mind went. It drives me nuts when I hear people say we steal oil from the mid-east only to hear stories of solid gold toilet seats or garages that hold a fleet or Rolls Royces.

For the man who has everything and doesn't think it's enough

Would be a neat thing to have though, 'sail' to the islands on the weekend and be home in time for the meeting Monday.....

Howard Hughes built a flying yacht over 60 years ago. He was an old-school yacht builder; he used wood.

The project wiill keep many engineers and other technical people busy for many years. It is a good thing when the filthy rich spend their money.

It is No More intended to fly or Sail...

then Mona Lisa was to make lasagna

It is just a picture a guy drew of an idea. I would not even call it a concept just an artists’ imaginings.

Right....... it's just a guy with a CAD program. The sails roll into the masts... the masts become wings... I'm no engineer (thank god) but the design flaw is obvious... it will neither sail, nor fly.
