There are things I like about winter:
1) No bugs
2) Beer stays cold without a cooler
3) I hardly ever sweat
...
Sounds like September and October sailing here. :)

I broke two slides on my main today and had to motor back to the ramp ... If that makes anyone feel better. :)

It helps some. Will it be expensive to fix?
Sorry, that's not nice. Winter has warped my mind and brought out my worst humor. I'd love to have sailed today. Instead we had another 8" of snow. I'm getting used to it. If my buddy's boat wasn't frozen in we would have sailed in the snow.

Dixie,

Sailrite.com. Probably a buck each. Been there. First sail about 3 years ago, 18 knot winds gusting to 25. A brisk spring day off the Maine coast. First, my lovely bride adjusted the jib on the starboard side . . . the winch barrel landed in my lap to port. Five miles later, I look up to my telltales, only to find my main unzipping from the mast, plink, plink, plink one at a time and with increasing speed. So, I got the parts from Sailrite and fixed my sail in the dancing light of the fire, true Down East fashion. Or did we loose power because of the wind? I forget. At any rate, if two are ready to go, I'd bet the rest are close to giving up the ghost to. I'd do them all and keep a couple extra.

Yeah, that's the plan, Don. The sail needs a new top batten too, but then it'll be in pretty good shape. It's the oldest of our three mains but still not bad.

Yeah, well it almost made me laugh coffee out of my nose!

Aaaaa, tell me this is going to end before my will to live leaves me. Another 15 degree day and snow falling as it has since November. With no dog team to occupy my time I gotta come up with some type of winter activity. Ice boating might have to be considered. Of course the minute I buy one the winters will become warm. If the folks out west want rain perhaps they should all wash their cars. Same type of irony.

Hey Dix

I have about 30 sail slides in my shed... and I no longer have a boat that uses sail slides. Over the years I've flipped so many boats I now have an assortment of random sailing junk in my shed. If you'd like to send me an address off list, I'll drop a few in an envelope. I'd need to know what size slide you have ... (camera phone would do it)
