That is a Balboa 26 in the greenhouse and a 1976 Hobie 16 buried in the snow. Hard to imagine now but I usually get my first sail of the season sometime in March.... 4 - 6 weeks away...:dance:

I got my dock reservation forms today. Glad it's a balmy 22 degrees. April 15th or ice off the river is when the dock is available. Probably only going to happen if this polar vortex, vortexes is butt back to the pole real quick. 2 months of subzero is taking away the enthusiasm for life. Cabin fever anyone?

I think I'm getting used to it. It was 18 degrees yesterday, according to my car, and sunny with no wind. No gloves, no hat, coat unzipped. I didn't even have the liner in. I was comfortable, or, I've lost my friggin' mind.
But anytime you Canadian fellas want your cold air mass back it's OK with us - eh?

The forecast for Maryland for the end of next week is up to 64 on Friday. I'm sure that means Sping will start then?

hello all

been averaging between -10 and 6 degrees for several weeks now.... I hate the cold... Florida is looking good for a new homestead.... wonder what the prices of houses are there ?....

I hate the cold... my baby is covered in a tarp with about 14 inches of snow on it... I have a long list of projects to do and cannot get to them for all the cold and snow....

I got my dues and slip fees in the mail 2 days ago.... I have until march 15th to pay them... I wonder when the lake will be thawed out enough to put the boat in the water...

I am gong stir crazy, and having sailing withdrawls... my friends in Florida have been sending me pictures of their fun there.... AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH... I need to be sailing right now....

Went sailing yesterday (FEB 13)-67 deg, wind 12. (DFW area) Was a great day after soooo many freezing days this winter. Cabin fever was fast approaching.

Once upon a time during January in the 80's at 2:30 a.m. on a snowy night with the mast light on and snow billowing with the wind in the sails and deck lights on, I sailed away on Smith Mt. Lake until a faint blue light special appeared out of nowhere. Two game wardens patrolling and we both asked each other why were out there. With no answer other than being stupid, I said you look cold and I have a large thermos filled with hot coffee inviting them to raft up and come over and enjoy as I doubt any speed boat would be out. They came over and shared coffee and we all laughed. I said it was time to call it quits and go home as it was a tad too cold. They agreed and with that, we became friends. Only at SML did that ever happen and yes I have sailed in snowy conditions elsewhere but to everyone, I knew the lay of the land; otherwise I would not go out.

It's hard to believe but Phoenix is gong to be in the low 80's this weekend, the cactus league is in full swing, ladies are wearing sundresses and flip flops and I'll be on the boat the next two days :dance::dance::dance:

Yes there is a lot of magic at SML. One November weekend about 15 years ago, I had made big plans to take the kids to the SML state park for a camping trip. We had packed marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolates, hot dogs and all of the things that make a campfire magic. We then drove to SML only to find a sign on the gate of the state park that read.... "Closed for wild life management hunt". The look on my kids faces. It was my son who saved the weekend... as you know the state park is only about a mile from Lake Haven Marina (where my Coronado 23' was docked at that time). My son said, "Dad, lets load the gear in the boat, sail to one of the coves across the lake and camp there...."

Well I had to wade the kids and gear ashore and just about succumbed to hypothermia in the process but it was one of the best camping trips we have ever had.

Yeah, it was sunny and nice here this afternoon too, although I did have (gasp!) ice on my windshield this morning.

Tomorrow is supposed to be 66F, 15 knots. We're SO going sailing!

I feel your pain. But for me, the season starts in June and ends in September. The trade off is I'm 15 minutes from 3000 miles of incredible coastline, the one that all you poor saps read about, dream about, spend huge amounts of hard earned cash to enjoy for a week! And I get it every single time . . . for FREE! Oh, I'm feeling much better now! Cleansing breath.

Your truckload shipment of snow should be arriving soon. I sent it in a refer truck to keep it intact. Should be enough to fill the boat. Wanted to make sure you felt right at home, since I know how much you're missing it.....

There are things I like about winter:
1) No bugs
2) Beer stays cold without a cooler
3) I hardly ever sweat
4) Skiing
5) Not using sunblock
6) Basement flooding with freezing cold snow melt …… Oh, that's another list.
7) Aerobic shoveling ….. oops! Other list too.
that's about all I've got ….
