Our SS cleats mount directly on the aluminum toe rail with no gasket, or other material. Been on there for many years and no sign or evidence of any kind of corrosion between the surfaces.
I was pondering using liquid electrical tape as a paint job where the parts contact. The rubber is also a good idea. I don't know how bad galvanic reactions really are.
Regarding Stainless and Aluminum, I have stainless screws securing items to my aluminum mast. Usually with a dab of lanocote to reduce galling or corrosion.
