Mac 224, under v birth smells very musky, mildew kinda,(probably from the old foam) I can only smell it when birth hatch is opened but I want it gone if possible, thinking about drilling a few 2-3" holes to get some air flow in there...any ideas!

You could install a circular or rectangular access hatch that you could open to dry the area regularly. You can purchase Bomar access hatches in many sizes...

If it's the foam that's gotten musty, buy some PureAyre PureAyre (Amazon has it, any version will work for this). First day that's warm and sunny, take the cover off the mattress...wash it or have it cleaned. Take the mattress out on deck. Put the PureAyre in a garden pump sprayer--or you can use a trigger sprayer if you want to wear out your hand--and spray enough from both sides to penetrate to middle of the foam. Leave it out in the sun all day. Your mattress will smell fresh as a daisy.

And while you're at it, pull out your musty foulies and PFDs and spray just light mist of PureAyre all over them and put them out the sun all day.

It would be best when you winterize this year if you can take all cushions and the mattress off the boat an store them in a "climate controlled" environment (a spare bedroom...even under a bed at home). If you can't do that, prop your cushions up and put some shims--whatever works--under your mattress to allow some air circulation under it. Leave all drawers and lockers slightly open so that air can circulated in them. And put some containers of something like Damp Rid in your boat to absorb moisture.

I'll keep that in mind but I was referring to the floatation foam stuffed under there that the boat was apparently built around

If someone gave "birth" in there, that could account for the funkiness.
