XM is king
As a musician I get bored pretty quickly of hearing the same tunes over and over. XM solved some of that. It's an easy installation and satellite ready receivers are the norm nowadays. We tried Sirius for a few months and couldn't stand it. DJ's were to yakky. Commercial broadcast FM is out of the question. We had several hundred CD's onboard but tired of hunting down a selection only to have to change it after an hour or so. Changers were too clunky and limiting. I downloaded the Musicmatch Jukebox off the web (it's free) onto my laptop which is secured at the navstation. Using Musicmatch I converted all the CD's into MP-3 files. Now I can drag and drop playlists hundreds of songs long that can be organized and accessed in seconds. $50 in cabling allows the laptop to play through the boat's sound system. It's awesome. I have thousands of titles I can search, sort by genre, title, artist or album. I can download titles from the web (yes, I pay for my tunes) and enjoy infinite flexibilty. Some day I'll have a system that sounds as good as Fred's but in the meantime we listen to what we want, when we want.
