Got a 1976 Model 27 Hunter in need of a muffler. Any Idea of the size required for the Yanmar 8hp on this boat. When I get down under to pull it out I'd like to have one there to put in at the same time.....Also any ideas on prop shaft replacement...These things back then weren't stainless and it's going to need replacement....She's now at Calabash, NC any other owners in the area.... I can be contacted at grm0325@yahoo.com Thanks for the help Ray Mack

Prop shaft replacement?

I'm curious why you are so certain your shaft will need replacement. It is most likely bronze, and most likely has only a little bit of pitting from electrolisys to show it's age. This could show in the area where the packing rides. My cure to eliminate the possibility of leaking at that point was to inatall a PSS dripless shaft seal. No leaks -- no problems from pitted sealing sirfaces. The only reason I can think of for spending several hundred dollars on a new stainless shaft is if you somehow found a way to pretsel it. Slight bowing can be corrected by a decent prop guy or even in your own garage.

I agree with Sam 100% I have installed the PSS shaft seal and it works great.
