I have a 1975 YSE 12 but no muffler. The exhaust is about 12" above the transom exhaust hole. Did this model hunter come with a muffler (1975 Hunter 30)? If so, what kind was it, if not, what would you recommend? A water lift, or one of the in-line mufflers? The engine is noisy and we must motor for about 20 minutes in and out of the channel to get to our slip. The wife would like it quieter. Thanks ahead of time Barry "Genesis" on the Chesapeake Bay

H30 muffler

You are back in the early Hunter days. I cannot say if yours was one with a factory installed muffler or not. Most of the H30's have a water lift muffler system which quiets the engine and also provides protection to keep exhaust pipe contained water from backing into the engine at shut down. I am quite certain that a Vetus Waterlock muffler can be made to fit. If you buy one, there is a sheet that comes with it that shows the basic geometry for the installation. Other parts may be required but you can figure that out as you go along.
