Moving the mast

Hi all,

Getting ready to put my mast tabernacle back on. I was hoping I could move it forward about 3/4 - 1 inch. It's current location is off center and very slightly skewed. Also the forward bolts go through bulkhead tabbing - making them hard put a decent backing washer on.

Does any one see any potential problem- essentially I will be about 1/4" forward of the chain plates from dead center. I have enough play in the rigging to accommodate that.

Thoughts - or concerns?

I can't imagine such a small change making such a difference in helm balance that a change in mast rake couldn't compensate for it.

I'd keep it as close as possible to the stock location.

I see no problem. If anything, it will reduce weather helm. I don't know what year your boat is, but the older 22's carried a lot of weather helm.

quick update - I moved the mast just under and inch forward and it has been working well - no issues and I was able to through bolt the tabernacle without an issues. Thanks all.
