Hunter 306 Bluewater Bay Marina (Niceville, FL)
Moving from the Potomac to the Choctawhatchee for retirement. Plan to bring my Hunter 306 from Alexandria, VA down through the ICW from Norfolk to Florida in the Fall. ICW routing probably all the way to Port St. Lucie, honk a right turn (bear starboard?) and then go through the Okeechobee - mast height is 42' so that should work I think - to Ft. Myers, and thence up the West Coast to (wherever) I can pick up the GICW to the boat's new home port in/near Niceville,FL. Any Hunter-buddies with small cruisers sailing from there? Where's my nearest Hunter dealer? (I could ask the nice folks in Alachua of course...but I'm really fishing for candid comments from owners on any dealers in my new area.) I've got a recent ICW guide (but nothing on the GICW yet), and will probably get the Skipper Bob thingies before I go, but am interested in anyone whose done the trip in a 30ish-footer recently and wants to offer comments or suggestions.

hunter 1979 37 cutter mobile, alabama
It has been awhile (5 years) but we brought our 37 from Handy's Point on the Chesapeake to Mobile, AL. No problems but a few close mishaps reminded us to be aware
of: always enter and leave docks into the current (esp. with strong river flow).
always check in with bridge tenders as we arrived at a bridge just south of Savannah after an attendant closed down on a sailboat with significant damage. We did have to
get under a 48 foot railway with our 50 foot mast. Good luck - great trip to make.
