I have had my boat moored in Point Roberts for the last 7 years with no real problems and I am Canadian with a Canadian registered boat same as half the marina. The only requirement is to get the slip and then a decal placed on the starboard window. I am not sure what the decal is called but it is required for long term mooreage and I got it at Costco for about $10-$15 dollars I think. Blaine should be no different and you may be able to buy the decal at the marina. Have you considered Point Roberts instead of Blane? I see you are from Sidney and Point Roberts is much closer to the ferry terminal than Blaine is. Actually, what is wrong with Sidney, nice protected waters compared to the open Georgia Strait.

In Blaine you can get the permit at cost cutter store. Marina need copy of your Canadian insurance. That is it.

Sorry you need Canadian Radio station licence to as you operate Canadian Licenced vessel in foreign waters. No big deal, small annual fee.

I would suggest that you contact your insurance carrier and maybe BoatUS about a Canadian boat with a USA home.

Here is a link to the Semiahmoo Marina web site.

Like previously mentioned, Point Roberts would be closer if you take the ferry from Sidney but if there isn't a slip available then obviously Blaine is the next stop.

Semiahmoo Marina would be a few more miles driving around Drayton Harbor but it is a really nice marina and there are a number of Canadian boats moored there. They do require proof of insurance to keep a boat there but then this is pretty much standard procedure throughout all the marinas now.

The sailing "outside" Blaine and Point Roberts tends to be very nice from what I've seen. No significant hazards to navigation.

When entering Drayton Harbor there is a starboard piling that acts as a buoy outside the entrance. Keep a bit of distance from it as it dries at low tide.
