I want to get a little independance with solar & wind. Has anyone mounted solar panels atop the bimini on a 40.5 . Have Martek davits-the biggest- and wondered if they're too low

I am looking at the same thing with regards to solar.

Would you mind sharing a pic of your davits and of your bimini?

If I mounted solar panels on top of my bimini the boom would be very likely to take them out. I think the davits would be a much better location.

Yea thats not the best place to be mounting solar panels, especially since solar panels are also quite heavy, so they would not last long up there. There are many other spots you can find, and remember you can walk on top of some types of solar panels, solar panels australia have a BIPV type of panel, which means building integrated PVs, and also flexible ones too. So maybe flexible could be the way to go for you.
