Mounting Rope Clutch on deck

I have a Capri 22 without the race package. I want to mount a Rope Clutch on the starboard side for the main halyard (in the same location as the factory race package has it). I read somewhere that there is an aluminum plate under the deck to drill and tap threads into for mounting. Is this true? Or will it be through bolted all the way through? @Crazy Dave Condon do you know?

I don’t know for sure, but you could drill a pilot hole where you will mount the clutch, and see if you get any aluminum shavings.

If not, you will have to thru-bolt the clutch. If you do get aluminum shavings, the drill the appropriate size hole and tap it. It may be easier to just thru-bolt it either way.
