Mounting Position

I am planning on mounting a VHF radio and possibly a sound system inside the cabin over the winter. I would appreaciate any suggestions from others with a H26 where the best spot might be to mount these items. ThanksBob Rowes/v C Minor

You can place the two anywhere, it is simply a matter of runnig the wiring. I find to place the VHF inside underneath in the rear berth cieling below the electrical panel an easy spot.As for the stereo, inside the locker storage either port or stbd with the face attached to the wall.

Dave, I have considered that spot for the radio (below the distribution panel above the aft berth), but am concerned about excessive moisture from steam above the galley. Do you have any experience or observations about how a radio there would handle the moisture?Bob Rowes/v C Minor

Bob;Most folks never use the stove except for some and I only use it for boiling water for coffee. To address steam into the VHF, you will find that most radios are designed for use both inside and outside as they are sealed against the elements. I have yet to have any of the ones installed in this area ever to go bad. I have never considered your concern and will recommend the same spotCrazy Dave

In the Bulk Head

We flush mounted a Standard Eclipse-Plus (small vhf) into the very top of the teak bathroom bulkhead next to the weather boards. The inside comes out near the ceiling over the portapotti. You get use to it and it does not interfer with the use. Neat installation, good looking, very useful since you can access from the cockpit with ease. Ran the Coax through the roof void and came out at the mast base.Good Luck

VHF RADIO

ON MY H260 I MOUNTED THE RADIO IN THE CENTER OF THE CEILING IMMEDIATELY AFT OF THE MAST SUPPORT. THIS ALLOWED SHORT RUN FOR ANTENNA WIRING. POWER WAS PULLED THRU HUNTER INTALLED TUBING IN CEILING. THIS DIRECTED THE SOUND FROM THE SPEAKERS DIRECTLY TO THE COCKPIT.
