I just got a motor mount and im not sure the best place or best way to mount it. The mount has 12 holes for mounting, should all of these have screws/bolts? is it better to drill all the way through and use bolts or are screws ok? i have an oday mariner and a 4hp 2 stroke. thanks for any help.

I'm pretty new at this but in his book This Old Boat Don Casey says to always use bolts and a backing plate never screws.

Yes I agree definitely go with bolts. I used a large piece (8x10 inch) of 1.5 inch mahogany for a backing plate and varnished up nicely-looked and worked well on my mariner. I had a 6 HP though. For a smaller motor you could use something smaller. I guess even fender washers would work. Better to over build than under.
