This may sound stupid but I need to ask. I would like to mount some things on the cabin bulkhead or wall, possibly some curtian rods or custom shelfs. What is the best method? Is the inside wall a liner or the inside of the hull ? Can you screw or bolt items onto it?

I know the ceiling is a liner and have mounted stero equippment onto it but have never attempted to mount onto the inner bulkhead. It would provide some valuable space if one could attach items onto the surface.

Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently received information regarding stereo installation and everything worked out perfectly, thanks to the help received on this site!!!

Sounds like you may be referring to the inside of the hull rather than a bulkhead? If it is the hull to which you refer. I would guess that you don't have a hull liner but it is easy enough to tell if there is a liner to which you can fix something by looking at a thruhull anywhere on the topsides to see what it goes through.

The product description says five pounds. I have found it varies depending on the surface area. But it is very strong stuff. The nice part is when it is removed, you can 'roll' it off without leaving a residue. Some applications on my boat: pictures, decorations, licenses in frames, teak accessory holders, DVD players, digital converter boxes, plastic shelves inside and at the helm, mirror an the back of a head door, and similar applications at home.

HI,

This is a type of Scotch tape. Are you seriously telling me that it would hold curtian rods or a small shelf? If true life has surely become easier!! Thank you I will go to our local Lowes and give it a try. Thank you very much.

A second vote for Rick D's tape....Kmart has it and I think in two or three strengths. We used it to mount mirrors, pictures and LED alarm clocks, LED panels. The PO used it to mount a picture and it took a serated knife to get it off...As Rick says it rubs off with no residue once you remove the mounted item...I would spring the extra $ for the 3M stuff, but have not personally tried the off brands...

Hey Earl,

I have used the 3M to mount a DVD player on the cabin ceiling about one year ago on my H26 and it is still there. I would get the 3M.

Earl: not too sure about the curtain rods. Like I said, it needs enough surface area to adhere. Good luck.
