I recently bought an O'day 31 that came with an old/ unsafe pressurized alchohol stove/oven, which I am in the process of replacing with a ceramic top two burner stove and a convection microwave oven. The oven will be mounted on a shelf below the stove, and comes with a stainless steel trim kit.The kit does not appear to be strong enough to restrain the oven in heavy seas and I'm looking for suggestions on how to more substantially support the oven. I've emailed the oven vendor, Contoure, several times, and despite offering the oven for sale through West Marine, they don't seem willing to provide any guidance on marine mounting.

Why is the stove unsafe? Because you have read that in the past? They are as safe as you use safety around them.

It should be relatively easy to build a shelf for the microwave, and then it can be secured to it. It really doesn't take much to secure the microwave for sea, as long as you can keep it from sliding, it will remain in place. You can use velcro along the front and rear bottom edges to secure it from sliding, and then use either a top shelf to hold it down (assuming it is rear and front vented and there aren't vent slots on top.) If it is top vented, then I would use a thin steel bracket on each side as a hold down.
When I was on board the carrier, we used large velcro pads to keep our printers from sliding off of the shelves and we were in 30 foot seas and a good 90 feeet above the waterline. We never had one slide off the shelf. Don't underestimate the strength of a simple steel trim kit. You simply need to keep the item from developing its own momentum, so that install kit may be enough.

I purchased a cook top with gimbals. And found a microwave the same width. Attached the microwave under the cook top so it is also gimbaled.
