I have an electric centerboard winch on my O'Day 32' CC which reels in or out by a heavy-duty momentary SPDT switch at the winch motor, with an off in the center position. I want to be able to control the CB from the helm position. I've designed a circuit with two DPDT relays, and momentary-on/off/momentary-on DPDT switch at the helm, but the switch is too big to mount inside my pedestal guard. I'm thinking of drilling a hole down somewhat low in the pedestal itself, or using one of the holes already there that has a dummy plug keeping the hole sealed. These pre-existing holes are a little closer to the compass than I would like. Any opinions on drilling a hole in the pedestal and carefully running the control wires and securing them so they won't get near the chain or gears? Thanks.
