Motoring mast

Just made up a better small motoring mast, it's a modified version of a previous one I had. Wired up a deck light and anchor light. Im heading up to the CA delta to explore and thought it would be easiest to leave the rigging at home sans mast and just motor around to see what it's all about. Im not sure how much sailing you can actually do there and I know of a few low bridges. Just wanted to share a pic. I made sure it was tall enough to still hold the pop top up securely. Used an old bent mast section to make it up. I have a handheld vhf so no antenna on the stubby. I don't think stability will be a problem with the wing keel. The conditions there from what I've seen online seem very tame.

Cool idea.

Getting a little nitpicky but the ColRegs state that your steaming light must be a meter above the running lights.

I doubt it will create an issue for you and perhaps it does have that separation, but it is not obvious in the picture.

I was going to do something similar as a center mast support while trailering this gives me another use for that project whenever I get around to it.

Doesn't need a steaming light as it is not a sailboat, it's a power boat. ;)

Fair point, I should have called it a deck light not a streaming light, I corrected it in my original post :D. I used the streaming light from my old mast, but wired it separate in hopes of lighting up the foredeck

That's pretty cool!! We like playing "African Queen" as we call it, motoring way up into small inland waterways. I for one would enjoy seeing details of the adventure!
