Motor Mount Wedge

Hi, I just purchased an O'day 26. Has anyone out there made a motor mount wedge? Right now my mount is bolted right to the boat causing it to flex and makes it very difficult to raise and tilt. Any suggestion / diagram with measurements would be greatly appreciated! I will be using a Garelick 4 stroke for the mount.

It sounds like you need to reinforce or repair the transom. I don't think putting the bracket on a wedge will eliminate transom flex. It could be the plywood incased the fiberglass of the transom is soft or it could just need reinforcement plates inside and out to carry bracket and motor weight.

Please view this thread. I am pulling the original mount and wedge and using starboard inside and out and then installing a new 4 stroke Garelick right to the starboard. View my photo showing my current wedge and mount and the angle of the mounting pad. Having a Garelick directly to the starboard with no wedge should be just fine in my eyes. The mounting pad will be more straight up and down if I mount it right on the starboard with no wedge.
