I have an O’Day 25 built in 1977 that I had for a little over a month now. It has an Atomic 2, also called a Kermath 2 cylinder "Sea Twin”. Does anyone have any experience starting or working on them? The previous owner had it running earlier this year in his yard using water from a garden hose, but I’m not having much luck getting it running. I’m looking for anyone with some possible trouble shooting tip or hits. I has spark, the values are moving and it’s getting fuel. When I chock it I’m getting a blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and it is trying to start at times over power the starter. Charlie Silvia

carb

I bet the carb is gummed up or somehow the fuel is having trouble getting to carb. Almost starting or only running while being choked often indicates clogged jets. Check all fuel line connections. Check fuel pump is working well. Replace the old gas. Cleaning a carb isn't usually very hard if you have a manual.

this is a gas motor? if so, it is very basic, if a plug will fire outside the head so you can see spark, and the carb shoots gas when you 'pump' the gas, the only things left are plug wires crossed, and compression too low or stuck valve, or dirty carb. the carb may have an accelorater pump that has died, that is necessary to start. does the motor fire if gas poured into carb?. if a rubber fuel line, the inner layer may be collapsing under pressure. adding chevron techron to the gas may help. if diesel, got no idea...
