HiPractical Sailor liked the Mercury 3.3 and Yamaha 2 hp 2 strokes. My personal small outboard favorite would be a Honda 2 hp 4 stroke. I'm not sure how high the transom is on a 140, but the Honda is available in a long shaft...not sure about the Merc and Yamaha.Hope this helpsAlan Long
think that is something you even want aboard. The 140 has a very high possibility of turning turtle and under this condition a battery would be very bad idea. Even a gas motor could be a problem. A 4 stroke outboard motor without fuel injection could also be a problem. Before buying any outboard motor check with the dealers to find out if their motors will run after being upside down, and what problems will arise if the motor is "dunked".A rope or "line" might be the next best bet. Toss your loop over the aft end of the first boat heading out of your marina when you want to sail and catch a tow. Reverse this when retiring for the day.RayS/V Speedy
