I just finished the re-power (replaced my Yanmar 2QM15 with a Beta-Marine 16) and the Morse shift control works the opposite (shift to forward, goes in reverse). Can anyone tell me if there is a way to adjust the control unit to correct this? I looked at it but didn't want to start taking it apart.

You didn't specify which unit you have. Most of the later styles have double arms which allow you to choose "push" or "pull" opperation. You can probably pull off a cover and flip the cable to the other side, thus reversing the operation.

The boat is a 1980 and it is the single lever type.

can you change the shift arm on the tranny to be opposite of what it is now and route your shift cable to make the connection...just a thought but look and see if that will work for you ....

Thanks to Stanley at Beta-Marine my problem is solved. He was able to tell me how to adjust the control bracket on the Morse.
