Last night was the first Gulf Coast sailors get together. We had a great time meeting the sailors from this web site. This morning I took a walk along the Bay front walking trail in Fairhope. This place is beautiful even on a cloudy day. Here are some photos I took.

Allen.....it was good seeing you and yours last night. Hopefully we can plan another get together sometime in 2008. Great photos. The photo I wanted to post is being resized and may still end up on this site. Dick

Nice memories too!

I spent a lot of summers "over the bay" from Mobile when I was younger, and enjoyed your pictures. Fairhope was a sleepy little town: not much more than the pier and bowling alley. Back in the 50s we did not swim in Mobile Bay anywhere from Fairhope north or anywhere on the west side of the bay because of the pollution from then paper mills and industries. We did swim and fish and waterski and sail the east side of the bay beyond Point Clear. Even went to the Saturday night dances at the Grand Hotel. Great memories of sailing a Sunfish with the Delaneys into the middle of the bay and not knowing how to get back (paddle hard, was the answer). Is the bay clean enough to enjoy from one end to the other now?
