If I understand correctly, the new owners didn't pay anyone, Catalina sued and won back control of the company and is trying to rectify the situation?

The article makes it sound like Catalina was sold for only a million. I'd imagine assets would be worth far more than that
There isn't quite enough detail to really figure out what the deal was. The million might have been for the brand name and not the assets. The eviction notice for non payment of rent suggests the assets were leased to the new owner. Once the court filings start perhaps we'll learn more. The people who will lose will be those who ordered boats that are still in production. It doesn't sound like anyone will be in a position to finish building them.

Just sad that so many us boat builders are going out of business.
Sad indeed. You would think that with Beneteau closing up shop in US & Hunter closing, there would be enough of a market in US to support Catalina,

That assumes someone would buy a Catalina, when they can buy something else they prefer, and have it delivered via ship or on it's bottom.

Cats anyone ?

OYE !!! WE went with a Catalina because they were still in business. Previous boats were either out of production or on a slippery slope. Now the future seems uncertain.....
