More Than a Weekender?

We have just bought a 240 and there's just 2 of us for now. I have read a lot of people saying they spend great weekends on their 240's, but haven't read anything about people's experiences with staying on the boat for a week. There's a good amount of room on this boat for just 2 people and was thinking that we might spend one of our weeks of vacation on it this summer. Anyone have an opinion to give me?

Do it

I haven’t seen the insides to a 240, but my family (four of us), spent three weeks on our H26. We were quite comfortable, even considering the amount of gear and supplies we had to take, as we were a week between ports with supplies.Just think in terms of what you will need and accommodate for considering that your not on the boat for a weekend, but an extended time. For instance, we had a second ice box under the table. Extra water jugs under the V-berth. I put the largest fuel tank that would fit in the fuel locker and had two extra jugs in the well in front of the outboard.And have a dingy. You’ll enjoy getting off the boat and exploring.

Go for it!

The 240 is great for 2 people. We have a family of 5 and all of us have stayed one night on the boat. Now that is crowded, but doable with little children. Enjoy your new boat! Tell us how it was spending a week on it!Dan

Overnight

My wife and I spent a week on our h23.Of course it was in the Florida Keys, which helped a lot. With you being up in New England, there are lots of places to explore. You could throw in a couple of nights in a marina so you could take your main squeeze out to dinner and let her take a proper shower.That will make her happier on the nightsyou anchor out and swing on the hook.Just do it and have a blast.

Cruising in Smaller Boats

My son and I spent three weeks cruising on my 23.5 with no problem.My wife and I spent two weeks in the Florida Keys last year and loved it.My wife and I are off to the Florida West coast and keys next week for a month. Our planned route will take us thru about 1,200 miles of wonderful territory. We stop at a marina about every three days or so to restock, recharge, and take a real shower.With a little thought on how to store your stuff and a few simple modifications / additions, this is a great boat to get away from it all.KentS/V Time Out

Yachting

My wife & I spent a gloriously romantic week aboard our Hunter 26. We cruised the Hawk Channel from Key Largo to Key West. Then we stayed at a marina and ate our way across Key West. Just remember that while you can tell your non-sailing pals that you're "yachting" but we all know it's really boat camping!
