More Rudder Progress

Today finally saw the rudder once more with a skin on it, instead of an open sided apparition. Tomorrow I will do some fairing, and add about 6 layers of glass for strength. Then it's just a matter of re-running all the cables, and of course finishing up.:) And rolling on new bottom paint. I think it will be stronger than when new, as I used epoxy instead of polyster, and I put a lot more glass in there than there was before. So, it's looking like Monday is SPLASH day. Of course, being in S. Louisiana, there isn't much sailing these days. :cussing:

Looks like you used woven roving for the glass. Very strong! Looks bullet proof.

geez--no one gonna be shooting down there--i just hope it is surfline pruf ..looks like it may just be..........awesome!!!!!!

No Foam Left

Claude,
Don't have any foam left. Look up Aero Marine on line if you need some. They have the best prices I could find for non absorbant urethane foam. They have it in 2#, 4#, and 8#. I went for the 8#. It had 4 in it. Foss uses 20, but they use theirs for structural strength.

Thanks, Phil..I'll give those guys a shout.
Last Friday, we were sailing the Stiletto Cat and at about 15 kts, it "bumped" and then there was a lot of weather helm.. The centerboard had broken off at the water, which we didn't know until we got back to the slip.. .. It is a simple glass over foam, no stringers construction.. We have the short end.. Looking for the long part along the shore today..

hay phillip--isnt your boat due to splash this week??? how is it coming along?? please post pictures of splash and work completed...thankyou....

So why paint the bottom.....I always thought oil was a good protector :D, many years ago an old guy in the marina told me they would put STP on the running gear to protect it from growth
