I have noticed a lot of questions about removing and replacing the stripes on the hull. Most are vinyl and easily replaced, however on my '83 H 34 my stripes seem to be painted or molded into the gelcoat! They are quite faded, has anyone had this problem and were you able to treat/sand the stripes to make the their original color? (I guess I could cover them with new vinyl stripes but for the $) Thanks, Charles & Lynn "Artistry"

Stripes

HI, I think you should call Hunter, you will find the cost of the stripes very reasonable. The original stripes when renewed, will look best too.

Painted stripes.

I'm guessing that a lot of older Hunters have had the vinyl stripes replaced with paint. A week or two ago I painted the four-inch wide black bootstripe on my 1979 H37C. I used the roll & tip method. You have to be within twelve inches to see that it wasn't sprayed on. The hardest part is applying the masking tape, especially when you wear bifocals! My boat still has the original vinyl stripes at the top. When it's time I'll probably replace three thin stripes with one 2-inch painted stripe.
