Thanx for the replys. I guess I am realizing why boaters from the dark side consider us cheap. It's not that we really are, just get some perverse pleasure in making something work long past when it should not. If I went to the job for the amount of time I've spent on those two darlings, could have bought a bunch of them with the extra $. Almost had a setup a West Marine but they were missing parts. Ace Hardware also, they had a 3/4" check valve for a well but no reducing female/female adapters. I glued the sucker yesterday and It actually looks like it will hold. I'll call Hunter and see if it's worth it to replace. Your right about corrosion. Opened the old pump, was quite gross but easy to clean. The newer pump came with a cracked cam (part of the plastic insides) 2 years ago. Opened it up and the crack extended from the pump handle to the pumping mechanism (whatever it's called). Found the best repair was with three cable ties. Now works great.alan P.S. just off the phone with Hunter, $2.70 each, ordered a bunch
