Hate to sound stupid, but I don't know much reguarding installing a roller furling system on my Hunter 25.5. Need some good advice and explanation. The CDI model FF4 w/ball bearings has been recommended. 1) Any recommendations on where to get the best price on this unit? 2) For Headstay length does one simply measure the length from turnbuckle to mast? 3) Turnbuckle size? Hunter.com lists a Headstay length of 31' 31/2", Headstay wire 5/32", Turnbuckle size 3/8".....Are these measurements standard for any Hunter 25.5? 4) Can one use their existing 100% Jib or must the sail be modified in any way? 5) How do you hank on another larger sail if a roller furler is in place. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated by this sailor...... Thanks

CDI is a good choice
The CDI furling unit is dependable and easy for a person of average mechanical aptitude to install. The prices listed on this site are reasonable, and there is plenty of additional info both here and the CDI website. The directions that come with the unit are clear and easy to follow. The convenience of furler is really worth the money and perhaps a morning's effort. Your hanked head sail will need to be modified or replaced to work with the furler. The modification is probably in the $200-300 price range. Doyle via this site or most lofts can handle, but it also might be a good time to go for a whole new sail. Good luck.

Just to verify the difference, I had the admiral (a math teacher) check and validate that your prices for the FF4 are $49.95 higher ($420 CDI vs. $469.95) without BB and $87.45 higher ($480 CDI vs. $567.45) with BB. This is for the new CDI prices that are $21 higher than their prices when I posted the earlier message to this thread. As a reference for these prices, I provide the following links. I'm kind of surprised we're so close to North on the FF2 and so much higher on the FF4. Let me check into that and I will post what I learn. My apologies!

Mystery pricing
