How would I go about finding out the type of sailboat I have. Would it be on the pink slip? Will it be on the boat?

visit http://www.columbia-yachts.com/ click on "model information." Most C24s go for 2k to 4.5k, depending most of all upon condition. When you buy a 30-40 year old boat the way it was maintained and repaired over the years matters more than anything else. I don't know your level of experience. If you have never maintained an old boat yourself it would be good to have a professional survey it. At the very least check the bulkheads for signs of rot under the chainplates, check the hull for bad repairs, Check the deck for rot (softness, crackeling), and see if the sails are shrunken (will the main hoist all the way to the top?) A shiney paint job can cover a worthless hulk. Fortunately Columbias were very well built and if you are patient enough to find a good one, and industrious enough to keep it up, you will get exceeding value for your money. Remember that the cost of the boat is just the beginning. It will need constant care and feeding... Bill Kerr http://www.worldzone.net/company/bkerr822/
