Thanks to those who suggested that I keep the CB on my ODay 23. Here's more detail that Don Evans requested: The leak is in bilge, a tiny pinhole right next to what is probably the CB pendant tube (a 4-5 foot long bulge into which I suspect the board recesses when raised). That's it. The worry I have is that, since I don't know anything about how the housing for the CB is arranged, the leak may be larger inside and coming from somewhere else and possibly causing delamination. Or is it more simple than that? Does the water normally come into that recess, and is the pinhole leak just coming straight in from that source? Since I am unfamilar with the construction in that area, could it be that I'm imagining something worse? Would just patching the hole do it?

Larry, here is what I know about that area of the bilge. There is no composite other than the ply's of cloth laid down there, and it is fairly substantial in that area. Probably about 3/8"-1/2" fiberglass and resin. The board does nest in that pocket. The delrin pin and wedge supports, that allow the board to pivot are accessed from outside the keel, through access plates just below the flair of the encapsulated keel where it joins the bottom of the boat, and is not involved in this leak. I'm not sure why the leak developed in the first place, as I have never heard of a spontaneous leak in that area of the bilge. That is disconcerting. Do you have thoughts on how it developed? Possibly a factory flaw? However, the repair should be straight forward and as you said a couple of patches of cloth and resin applied from the bilge side should seal that pin hole for good. Don

Check out my post above on a similar problem on an Oday 28...our problems sound similar. When the boat is hauled check around the hull where the stub keel jouns the hull and make sure you do not have a crack. I suppose you could have a crack on the inside of the trunk as well, so I'd check inside and outside thoroughly. My boat is a fin keel and the crack was at the aft end of the keel where it joins the hull. About 3/4" long and not very wide. If you just started seeing the water accumulation, I doubt you're getting delamination yet...just dry it out over the winter and fix with fiberglass. Incidentally, where are you in Chicago...
