More cooler capacity

As I am going on a six month cruise in June I was looking for ways to increase the refrigeration capacity on my 2004 H33. Thought H33 owners might be intersted in the solution. I pulled out the standard Ice Box thus revealing a quite cavernous space. I put in a false floor and fitted a Waeco CF35 self contained fridge/freezer unit. The wiring is simple as the existing fridge wiring is acessible and only inches away. I put an additional switch in the compartment so you can run either or both units. The existing circuit breaker handles the current for both the original Fridge and the new Waeco (tested over 1 week). It is tight fit and you have to remove all the old ice box surround and carefully cut out a piece of the Corian counter top the width of the new unit adjacent to the bulkhead. The Corian strip is then replaced after installation and fitted neatly with some sikaflex filler. To get the unit in you also need to temporarily remove the mains power point and microwave.I have fitted the old Ice box cover back and added two ss hinges so that it opens towards the galley window. I am now using the new unit as the main fridge for keeping drinks cool 24/7 as it uses less power than the standard fridge, but will put it into freezer mode for cruising. My 3x80 watt solar panels and 390 ah battery capacity handled the additonal load of both units under the seven day test without problems. An additional bonus is an extra deep shelf on the starboard side. I realise that this may mean little unless you own an H33 but it has made this boat more suitable for longer distance cruising.

Sounds Interesting

Despite the fact that my 33.5 is a 1988 and configured different than your model, the upgrade/modification sounds very interesting. Any possibility you can post some pictures?
