I want to moor my 26.5 Hunter (say 5,000 lbs.)in front of my home in Lake Huron. The location has the following characteristics: 6-9 feet deep; clay bottom with rocks; and semi-protected (3-4 foot swells max.). I've read web info., mooring standards, etc. etc. What would you use for the anchor - concrete, steel, Helix, Pyramid, mushroom, etc???

Check with the local Harbormaster

There might be local/state rules governing the types, and the permitting of placement/use. Most moorings are secured by chain to concrete blocks in our harbors. --Ron

Check with your harbor mates

find out who owns the other boats anchored out in your semi-protected area and ask them lots of questions. If there isn't anyone else moored in your area aks the locals and find out why not. Fair Winds Bill Murray
