We used to wrap ours with rigging tape (white electrical tape). At some point the darn thing got trashed/ripped off/run over or something. The new ones have a coating so you don't get the splinters.

Whenever picking up a stick that is not ours and not coated, I wear gloves.

Having someone else pick up a splintery stick is just mean!!!

can you paint it with epoxy paint to make it not give meanness--have someone else test this theory, for meanness.....after it is painted......

Pick Up Stix

My MOB pole got nasty fiberglass hair. I wet sanded it and applied white enamel. Good for four years and no more barbs. Recoated once.
