I noticed that a few people are using a mooring mast buoy. The mast buoys that I have seen have an eye only large enough for about a 1/4 inch line. This is too small for a mooring pennant. I am looking for suggestions (illustrations) on how to attach the mooring mast buoy to the mooring pennant.

I recommend using a shackle. Send the shackle pin through the 1/4" eye. Any shackle with a 1/4" pin should have a large enough bale to take a fare size line. If you use a "bow" shackle you'll be able to splice an even larger line on.

Don't forget the thimble for the eye splice.

Thanks Dave,
Now tell me about attaching the other end of the line to the mooring line, so that when I pick up the buoy I get the end of the mooring pennant to attach to the boat.
