Stamford Moorings

You could place a mooring in Stamford harbor. There is no cost other than the actual mooring anchor and tackle. You need to select a location, fill out an application that goes to the Harbor Master and use one of the two certified mooring suppliers, I use Old Greenwich Marine LLC. The Harbor Master assigns you a mooring number which is displayed on your mooring ball. The only problem is where you can launch a dingy to get to your boat as there is no public access in Stamford Harbor. There is a new Harbor Master this year and I do not have his name yet. I am sure you can contact the Stamford Marine Police and they can supply his name and contact information if you are interested. The mooring area is on the west side of the channel between Grass Island and the breakwater and continues to the west end of the breakwater, kind of like a big triangle. Beware of the line of rocks that runs from the tip of Grass Island all the way out to the breakwater just to the west side of the channel, check the charts. Good Luck.

You could try

Sprite Island Yacht Club in Norwalk. Their anchorage is on the shallow side but they can take up to a 4-foot draft. Very nice club on one of the Norwalk Islands. Their number is in the directory or you can just drive down there on a Saturday and check it out. Very friendly people. Sprite Island is on your chart on the Norwalk/Westport line.

Try the towns of Stratford and Milford

As in Stamford, you buy your own ground tackle and it's put in for you. The harbormaster of either town could help you.
