I have a general question about managing mooring lines. We have 2 mooring lines on our mooring. They are not tied together. Often they get wrapped around the mooring sometimes multiple times and shorten, making it tough to unwrap them and thus manage them altogetther without a struggle. Questions for all: Do you have a problem like this? How do you keep your mooring lines from wrapping around the ball? Do you tie the 2 lines together and if so, have you had any problem with doing this? Thanks in advance PMJ

Your lines may be too long. Mine never get tangled. The recommended length is 2.5 times the freeboard. I keep mine a little shorter than that and use snubbers.
Float 'em
If you put a float on each pennant, then they should not tangle. Two weeks ago I stayed on a rented mooring that had split pennants. One had a pick-up stick, the other, a float that could be picked up with a boat hook. The split pennants also act as a bridle and stop some of the swinging that Hunters are famous for. I might also add that the two pennants merged into one pennant line that was attached to the mooring.

...configured correctly. Check to see that you have a swivelling shackle at both the pennant end and anchor end of the mooring chain. If not, as the boat swings around due to wind and tide, your boat may essentially wind-up the whole operation.... PIA if that happens; also bad because it essentially shortens the length of your mooring tackle, and you're robbed of a good deal of vertical motion, pennants can then chafe, boat goes sailing without you..... So, make sure you at least have a swivel shackle at the pennant end of the mooring chain. If not, you can retrofit.

Simple fix..
..using short pieces of 1/8" spectra, tie the two penants together at 18" sections to about 5' from the eye splices. They will no longer get wrapped around the mooring ball. Also, the mooring ball should be attached to the mooring chain about 18" from the penant shackles.
