Monitor windvanes on Vega

Hi All,

I wanted to say thinaks for the ideas on fixing the mast leaking
problem that I have with Tradition. I'll implement one or a
combination of these come spring commissioning.

On the thread about equiping for offshore, I have a Monitor on my
Vega and would be happy to answer any questions about performance or
installation. I've sailed with it for ~3000 nm, including a solo 11
day 1400 nm cruise.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,

Hi Chris,

My Vega is rather well equiped for offshore sailing, 6mm stays, extra
support for the mast etc. ... but what the hell is a Monitor?

Kind regards from the other side of the ocean,

Hi Folks,

The Monitor windvane is a fairly good match for the Vega. I would
say that the only real issue with it is weight, my vega is always
stern heavy in the water. I don't know if that is the windvane's
weight or repower with a 13 HP westerbeke.

Cheers all,
Chris

Hi All

I have a Navik Windvane and have fitted three more onto Vegas. They are easy to fit, do the job very well. Quite light and certainly doesnt bring the stern down. I have A Beta installed but all new diesels nowadays has to be lighter than the original Volvo MD6A !! Lorna Doone circumnavigated with a Navik, Rough Diamond completed her round Britain with ease (Keith said his tow most important bits of kit were his Navik and his Stereo. Installation takes a couple of hours. Good downwind and all points of sale. Double Servo System. Cost about £1300

Regards to all
