Hi;

Any suggestions for a reasonable moisture meter now that I've ripped all my ports out and the core is drying out?

Thanks. Ilan

Have looked at a number of these on a google search but dont know which are adequate without going overboard cost-wise

Yeah, there are a lot of different product and honestly I don't know much about the technology but most at least say what they are used for and some just say wood and drywall so you can eliminate those.

I thought the one I got was a bit goofy being named "Skipper Plus" but I at least liked the fact it seemed to be a marine version and had a specific range for fiberglass (GRP). It was similar to the one my surveyor used to slide around and quickly locate spots where the core is wet. I can duplicate his findings so it seems to work as well. It also seems to have a good sensitivity to detect varying levels of moisture.

Thanks; will check it out.

What is the difference between meters? Do some only work on raw wood while others will work on wood behind another surface like fiberglass? Is that what is meant by different modes and is that why some are much more expensive?

If you have a Volt meter tester and an area of dry core...
YOU CAN DO IT FOR FREE!:clap:

Watch this video...

Keep your Voltmeter testing probes the same spacing as in dry core. The closer the probes are together the better the test, but you are testing the spot between the probes.;)
