After much searching I have finally found a trailer for my 1985 Hunter 23, winged keel. The trailer is a tandem axle built for a 22 ft. power boat, so it is longer than the standard trailer for a Hunter. Now, I am in need of some specs for adapting the trailer to the Hunter. The measurements I need do not have to be exact as I will have to make final height adjustments when I have it placed onto the trailer. Here is a list of the information needed: 1) Length of bunk boards 2) Approx. height from trailer frame to the bottom of the hull (I need to make or purchase new angle iron supports for the bunks.) 3) Number of supports needed for each bunk board 4) Approx. height of front support roller for the bow. 5) Approx. heigth of the Winch and rubber bow "V" shaped bumpers (?) Any measurements or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Alan B.

Mod Trailer

Howdy Alan, This aint relevant to a Hunter 23 in particuliar, but me and a buddy just built a Trailer for a SanJuan24 Full Keel, LOA: 24' LWL: 22.8' Draft 4' Displacement 3200lbs. Anyhoot we found one Trailer Maker here local, Panam City Fl. custom build for $2200 USD, seemed a bit steep, so we got a used Catalina Trailer and Modified it to the SJ24 Specs. 1 week of cutting Iron and Welding, and we ended up with a better Trailer than the Original is/was. The Pads/Bunks are the most important placement items, that is to say, they are what matter most for Stability and not damageing Boat. I see that you are asking the right questions, just wanted to let ya know that it can be done. (With great sucess). I have a Hun22 Swing Keel, so I cannot assist you with the Specs, I think. But if you want the Specs for the Hun22 Trailer I will be happy to measure and send you mine. I think there is a Hunter owner up near me with a 23', I will contact them and see what thier configuration is. Happy Sailing, and Best of Luck, Johnny

Specs from my 23.5 trailer

Finally after all the dumb questions I asked and all the great advice I’ve gotten, I get to contribute. I rushed out with digital camera in hand and took several shots of my Ken's Welding Service Inc. I'll try to attach them to this post, but if it doesn’t go, I’ll be happy to email them to you. bnoble@axcess.net

Magic Tilt measurments for 1985 h23 (wing Keel)

I have the stock magic tilt trailer that came with the H23. 1.--Bunk Boards are 9 ft. exact 2.--There are three supports for the bunk boards. Due to the shape of the hull the furtherst aft support is the longest extending 23 inches from the bottom of the frame to the hull. The middle support is the shortest with a distance of 20.5" from bottom of frame to hull and the support closeest to the bow is 22 inches from the bottom of the frame to the hull. 4.--Front roller is 21"from frame to bottom of roller 5. - 31" from frame to winch (bottom) & 27" to v-pad. I do not have a digital camera but if you need to contact me please send e-mail to tstoner304@aol.com, and we can exchang phone numbers and I can answer any questions.
