You need to meet your outboard manufacturer spec for octane or you will burn a hole in the piston. Avgas ranges much higher than the 89 octane spec'd for my engine.

You can buy Trufuel in 40:1 mix and 50:1 mix. I run it in all my two stroke engines and it is great.

No problem with the mix ratio, just wondering about the fact they specify air cooled. My outboard 2 cycle engine is not air cooled, and when mixing my own fuel I always buy the 2 cycle oil that specifies it is for outboards, which I believe is different than the 2 cycle oil for trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers and other air cooled engines.

A 2-stroke gas engine is a 2-stroke gas engine. Just get the mix ratio right...the stuff is going out the pipe anyway.
