Model of Universal diesel in 1988 Catalina 28

Can someone tell me the model type for the 3 cylinder Universal diesel in the 1988 Catalina 28 I recently purchased?
Any idea where I could find the Owner/Maintenance manual for it?

It is quite hard to start the first time any day even when temp is 80F. After that, it starts up and runs fine.

Your engine should have an "identifier" right on the top above the thermostat. 1988 is most likely an M25XP.

Well my hard starting diesel was due to me not realizing that I needed to turn the key further (past ON) to the next stop to energize the glow-plugs. Now after 20 seconds of glow-plug...it starts right up.
Thanks to the 75 year old mechanic who enlightened me. Must tip him when I see him again.
