Mod to use cape dory jib on c27 tall rig

I have a C27 tall rig. I have a only 155 genoa for my headsail.
I got a good deal on a cape Dory Jib 250 dollars and is in excellent shape.
I hanked it on and pulled it up and it is about 2 feet short of gong up all the way. I knew I was going to have to do a mod going into the deal.
What I'm told is I need to make a pendant. I'm not sure if pendant is the right term.
I need to attach it from the fitting on my bow roller. What I need help with
is material type and diameter to handle the loads it will be exposed to.
Any tips that would help would be appreciated.

Jib pendant

I tried using plastic covered wire with Nicro Press thimbles. The length is important.

I finally gave that up and use high strength line. We keep our jib on a furler, so the halyard is always tensioned and I loosen the line at the foot at the end of a sail, before I furl the jib.

With your hank on new jib, you could go either way.

Go over to west marine, back in the rigging area you will find all the equipment and tools you will need to make you pendant. While you're there you might make a couple extras. They come in handy for many applications.

It's simply a length of wire with to loops pressed into each end. It's like a sailors extension cord. You can use vinyl coated wire if you like.... The wire diameter should be the same as the halyard... on a Cat 27 the wire halyards were 1/8 inch, but a size smaller won't hurt. Make sure you use the flexible, running rigging type wire. The WM guy will help.

So you cut a length of wire, loop it around a thimble and nicropress it together. There is a big nicropress device right there in the store.

Joe Stu thanks for the help. I'm so looking forward to getting out today with this new sail.
