Anyone have an idea as to how long it will take to sail from Dog River to Lulu,s on the ICW. Average about 3 to 5 knots. Wife needs a Valentine Present. Thanks!

I would count on a long day - leave fairly early in the morning to arrive before dark. Sounds like you are doing this for the first time - be VERY wary of ships in the channel. They are going a LOT faster than you think they are.
In a Hunter 30, I don't think you need to worry about the spoil banks charted on either side of the ship channel. Needless to say, be aware of the weather before going out into the middle of Mobile Bay. Most times I wouldn't consider it dangerous, but I have had a couple of uncomfortable crossings, and that probably wouldn't make a very good Valentine's present. Have fun at LuLu's!

Distance is about 35 nautical miles.. say 8-10 hours .. Going to be pretty chilly, but with predicted N, NNW wind, you could be sailing easily most of the time.. Coming back ...well, if ya wait until Monday, it would be a sleigh ride back too..

It will take 5 hours down the bay and about another hour to Lu Lu's. 1 more hour to the Wharf and another hour to Pirates Cove.

Can't wait till spring,
Bob

Ternang.. Hope you didn't get downwind of Carnival's Poopy Ship as it was towed up the ship channel to Mobile! Brings new meaning to "poop deck" doesn't it?? I can't imagine what a zoo this must have been with news helicopters and launches buzzing all around..
