Mobile bay marina's
Kerry,Having a 5.5 draft will not be a problem on the bay. The bottom is mostly silt and the average depth is 8 ft. +. There are very few if any obstructions from the storm. As far as docking goes. The only choices on the eastern shore are Fairhope yacht club which I am sure has a long waiting list for slips and Fly Creek Marina. I am not sure of the condition of the channel there, but it is used regulary. The only other option on that side is at the Grand Hotelin Point Clear. I have not been there much but it can be a very rough place to dock and has little protection. There are many more places on the western shore. Mobile Yacht club has a good marina, clubhouse and sailing community. Also Turner Marine at the Dog River bridge has a very good marina and yard with many services. There are 3 more marina's close to the bridge but I am not sure about the availbility of slips. You may want to consider Turner's for a while and look into the Yacht club once you have found your way around. The drive over will be a little bit of a hassle, but the marina options on the western shore are better. If you like to sail you will enjoy the area, many times you will have the bay all to yourself and there are many nice crusing grounds near by. Also if you like to race there are fun races during the week and a larger regatta once a monthBob
