Mobil One

Anyone out there have any experience with Mobil One 15W40 in their late model marine diesel? The brand is great in gas automotive and the Mobil factory reps state that the 15W40 is blended for both gas & diesel applications. Also anyone tried Sta-Bil fuel additive for post season storage? Thanks!!

Sta-bil

My mechanic recently recommended Sta-Bil for year-round use, since sailboat engines use so little fuel. I haven't actually used it yet but plan to.

Sorry Rick. It is 5W40 not 15W40. The oil is API CI-4/CH-4/CF-4/CF

Have been using it for the past 3 years in my boat and 8 years in my trucks. I have found it runs cleaner, does not break down as fast and the engines seem to run quiter. Less sludge build up as well.

Mobile One is good, Amsoil is better (and costs more.) Sta-Bil works as advertised, as is the only way to go if you plan to leave gas in a tank for more than a couple of months.
